off Psoriasis of the liver

Many people believe that psoriasis is simply an external medical condition. However, as the name easily suggests, psoriasis can also be affected by the internal organs such as in psoriasis of the liver.

Psoriasis of the liver is indeed when psoriasis is caused by an underlying problem with the person’s liver. Psoriasis is not contagious and is a skin condition that has many potential causes. It is also believed that a dysfunction of the liver may cause psoriasis, although to date there is really insufficient evidence to support the theory. Psoriasis is not life threatening, but it can lead to other health conditions and can also affect your quality of life.

There seem to be many potential causes for the occurrence of psoriasis, and it is still not fully understood what causes the disease. Genetics may cause some people to develop psoriasis, but of the 10 percent of people who carry the genetic marker, only 2 to 3 percent of them will go on to develop the condition. What this means then is that there are also external triggers for the conditions. Allergy to food, stress, and psoriasis of the liver are all thought to be possible causes.

Psoriasis in the liver will occur when the liver is not cleansing waste from the body adequately. The liver when functioning correctly works by breaking down toxins, ammonia, and hormones, working as a filter for your body. When this filter malfunctions or does not work efficiently due to fibrosis or disease, higher levels of toxins will build up and stay in the body. It is in turn these toxins that are thought to cause psoriasis.

There is a small amount of evidence that links the skin condition psoriasis with liver function. For those who consider it to be a possible trigger to their skin condition, natural food therapy, vitamins, and body cleansing are recommended. This type of therapy is still in its experimental stage, but it should be noted that there are no risks involved in simply eating healthily and stocking up on essential vitamins. However, you should check with your doctor before making any changes to your normal diet and eating habits.

Psoriasis may occur in different variations, these including guttate, plaque, pustular, inverse, and erythrodermic psoriasis. In all these variants of the disease, the skin will become covered with unsightly lesions. The lesions on the skin appear due to an excessively rapid growth of skin cells and the skins inability to shed quickly enough to accommodate this growth. Normally the skin will generally a cycle over the course of a month and then shed, but in the case of psoriasis, the cells can cycle as quickly as every two days and fail to shed, causing a build up of skin and characteristic lesions.

Psoriasis can affect skin all over the body and there are different components to its treatment. The lesions that develop on the skin can be treated with topical ointments or medication that is taken orally. Someone who suffers from psoriasis is also more like to suffer from other diseases such as heart disease, so following a healthy lifestyle with exercise, and eating well are very important. If it is thought that there is psoriasis of the liver present, diet must include liver-friendly food as well as vitamins that are fat soluble. There is no actual treatment for psoriasis, although medications and lifestyle changes can reduce symptoms to a manageable level.
